Biography
I am a researcher at Indian Astrobiology Research Foundation, Mumbai, India. My primary interest are viruses. In recent times I have worked on the conceptual modeling of cancer caused by Viruses. I have found that DNA viruses are disproportionately linked with cancers due to their distinct lifestyle of being dependent on the host cell cycle for their survival and reproduction and consequent constraints on immediate replication and transmission. Currently, I am working on the evolutionary perspective of the cancer caused by the retroviruses like HTLV-1. Apart from this, I am interested in evolutionary epidemiology as well as the questions about the origin of life. I am also interested in how evolutionary biology could help predict Alien life on exoplanets.
