What ISEMPH activities would you like in our ANZ region?

ISEMPH is an international society which allows us to network across continents, but did you know that 38 members are from Australia and New Zealand?

As a regional group, we can add to the ISEMPH experience through activities that strengthen and grow our local network (and are timed during waking hours!)

It’s time to imagine the possibilities…

I’m collecting ideas from members across New Zealand and Australia and would very much value your input. Any suggestions? Big or small, all ideas are welcome!

I’m unfortunately not attending ISEMPH 2023 next week, but to those who are, it’s a great chance to brainstorm the question with peers and send me an informal ‘wish list’.

For example, we might:

·       Organize local meetings

·       Inform the regional public about evolutionary medicine

·       Enhance diversity of ISEMPH community

·       Initiate educational activities at different academic levels

A meeting with Cynthia Beall Editor-in-Chief of Evolution, Medicine, and Public Health

Join us for a discussion of all things journal-related with Cynthia Beall, Editor in Chief of the Evolution, Medicine, and Public Health journal. As the journal celebrates its 10th Anniversary, Cynthia is keen to meet virtually with ISEMPH members from the Australia and New Zealand Region.

It’s a great opportunity for us to zoom together as a regional group.

Thursday 18^th May 2023 Zoom Meeting  **THIS MEETING HAS ALREADY OCCURRED**

8-9am Perth (AWST), 10-11am Sydney (AEST), 12-1pm New Zealand (NZST)

Bring your questions and your ideas as we discuss:

• types of contributions welcomed from authors using evolutionary concepts to ask questions about health, public health, and vulnerability to illness.
• the range of papers EMPH has already published 
• opportunities to become involved by publishing, reviewing, and organizing special virtual issues (sound intriguing?)   
• the open access publishing model   
• do you follow the journal or receive alerts of published papers? 
• what are your interests in publishing, research, and teaching and how can EMPH involve you from the Australia and New Zealand region?

We hope for a highly interactive session, with plenty of questions and discussion.
