Abstract submission for oral and poster presentations will be closed on April 24.

Late poster submissions will be considered if possible.

The program committee welcomes abstracts for consideration for oral or poster presentation or symposia at the International Society for Evolution, Medicine and Public Health Seventh Annual Meeting, July 5-8 in Lisbon, Portugal.  Abstracts will be selected by the Program Committee based on academic and/or clinical relevance.  

April 15, 2022 is the deadline for symposium submission, acceptances will be sent out by early May. Meeting registration, a separate process, is required for consideration of abstracts. Registrations cancelled at least 14 days before the meeting  will receive a full refund (except for processing fees).

ISEMPH 2022 will gather delegates from around the world. It follows in the footsteps of successful previous meetings in Tempe, Arizona; Durham, North Carolina; Groningen, The Netherlands, Park City, Utah, and Zurich. ISEMPH is profoundly interdisciplinary and emphasizes the multiple interfaces between evolutionary biology and human health in the complementary fields of medicine, evolutionary biology, anthropology, evolutionary psychology, behavioral ecology and epidemiology. The meetings particularly welcomes submissions from students and clinicians at all stages of professional development.

Abstracts in the following categories are welcome:

  • Oral presentation preferred, also consider for a poster presentation
  • Poster presentation only
  • Oral presentation only
  • Symposium proposal 

Proposed Symposia

Symposium organizer applicants should focus on a hot topic that would significantly enrich the themes of evolutionary medicine, and include the names and addresses of two to four speakers who have agreed in principle to attend the conference and present a talk should the proposal be accepted. Please use the proposal form below.

Symposium proposal (to include in the "Notes" box of the Abstract Submission Form)

b. Introduction/Background: (max 100 words) 

c. Purpose: Why is the theme important and interesting to be prioritized? How will dissemination of the theme be important for evolutionary medicine? max 100 words 

d. Speakers: List speakers who have agreed in principle to attend, with email address and URL.
