Welcome

The International Society for Evolution, Medicine, & Public Health is convening our fourth annual conference in spectacular Park City, Utah this summer. Health professionals, researchers, teachers and students from many scientific disciplines from around the world will gather to share their ideas, approaches and research findings at the intersection of evolutionary biology, medicine, and public health.

The main goals of this conference are to: 

1) Catalyze new discoveries in the rapidly growing field of evolutionary medicine - including evolutionary dynamics of cancer, the microbiome, antibiotic resistance, infectious disease, health behavior, and much more! 

2) Create new connections and increase the awareness of this exciting, important, and high impact area of scientific inquiry.

Abstract Submission

The program committee welcomes the submission of abstracts to be considered for platform presentations or poster presentations. Abstracts will be selected by the Program Committee after a review of scientific quality. Abstract submissions are now closed. Decisions will be announced by April 21st.

Travel Grant Application

Each year, the International Society for Evolution, Medicine, and Public Health provides support to a limited number of students, members in financial need, and others from underrepresented groups who present (oral or poster presentation) at its Annual Meeting. The awards provide the recipients opportunities and access to develop their skills and professional network with people in their field. Travel Grant Awards will be announced by May 1st.

Evolution and Wilderness Medicine CME Pre-Conference

August 1st 8:00am-2:30pm |  $195

This special pre-conference directed by Joe Alcock, M.D. with invited guest speakers explores how evolutionary biology and evolutionary ecology contribute to the management of patients in extreme environments. CME credit available. Register for this pre-conference as an add-on to your regular ISEMPH Meeting registration.

Location and Lodging

Park City, Utah is a turn-of-the-century mining town thriving in the present. Visitors will find retail shopping, restaurants, museums, and galleries in the historic downtown area. Outdoor adventurists will uncover hot springs, forests, and picturesque hiking and biking trails to enjoy with family and new friends. 

The DoubleTree by Hilton—site of the 2018 ISEMPH meeting—is just 32 miles east of Salt Lake International Airport and is centrally located in the heart of Park City, UT.

Meeting Fee Information

In January 2018, ISEMPH revised its Membership Categories and Fees. They are now based on a GDP model. Because of that change, Meeting Registration Fees—for members and non-members—are also now based on a GDP model.
