Childcare

CHILDCARE

ISEMPH 2024 has arranged for childcare for children 0-16 at subsidised rates during the Conference.

Children aged 0-4 will be taken care of by a Childcare Company called Tinies that works in conjunction with Universities and other organisations. Child minders have security clearance and are fully licensed by the Company.  A risk assessment has been undertaken for the room location where this childcare will take place.  More information about the Company can be found here.

The subsidised cost for childcare is $15 per day. Please note that there will be a separate registration process to fill in required information about each child nearer the time of the meeting.

Children aged 5-16 will be able to join the Durham University Holiday Camps which are primarily multi-sports camps run at Maiden Castle Sports Facility split into different age groups.  Activities range from arts and crafts, obstacle courses, wall climbing and many others depending on age and ability.  The Camps are fully licensed and insured. Children are required to bring a packed lunch but once we know numbers, we can assist with providing these through the on-site cafe which also has vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options.  The cost of an on-site lunch is $4.00. The camps run from 9:30-4:30 pm but there are options for an early drop off at 8:30 and a late pick up at 5:30. More information can be found about the different camps here and here. There are also opportunities for children/young people aged 14-19 to volunteer to help with activities for younger children if so inclined.

Note that the location of the Holiday Camps is at Maiden Castle where the sports facilites can be found at Durham University. It is about a 10-15 minute walk from the Conference location. The same buses that run from the hotels to the Main Campus also go past Maiden Castle (see the Transport section).  A map of the University Buildings and the location of Maiden Castle can be found here. We may be able to provide transportation each day for those needing childcare.

A video about the various activities can be found here. Children are asked to dress appropriately for the Holidays Camps.  If your child does not speak English, please indicate on the registration form as the Holiday Club does its best to provide camp leaders with appropriate language skills.

Please see the FAQs page for more information.

The subsidised cost per day for children aged 5-16 is $15 per day (including lunch). Please note that there will be a separate registration process to fill in required information about each child nearer the time of the meeting.

There is no charge for attending the holiday camps if participants volunteer to help with activities but we ask that anyone volunteering should commit to three days to make the training that is given worthwhile.
