Lessons from 3.5 Billion Years of Life: What biological evolution tells us about success in countering catastrophic risks

Monday, May 18th at 12pm ET

Join us for a conversation with Daniel Blumstein, Professor, Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Institute of the Environment & Sustainability, University of California Los Angeles and Terence Taylor, founding president of the International Council for the Life Sciences. They’ll be leading a discussion on what we can learn from the success of biological evolution in dealing with catastrophic risks. A key reference for their perspectives is derived from National Security: A Darwinian Approach to a Dangerous World, Eds: Raphael D. Sagarin and Terence Taylor, UC Press. Attendees are encouraged to read a useful summary of the key concepts in Sagarin and Taylor Security Informatics 2012, 1:14. Sign up here for the meeting link.
