Biography
Ferrall-Fairbanks received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a biomechanics minor at the University of Florida in 2012 and her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in 2017 from the joint Georgia Tech and Emory program. In her graduate dissertation work under the supervision of Dr. Manu O Platt, Ferrall-Fairbanks focused on integrating wet-lab experimental and computational methods to tease apart complex enzyme-on-enzyme interactions in proteolytic networks up-regulated in tissue destructive diseases. In August 2017, she began her postdoctoral studies in with Dr. Philipp M. Altrock in Mathematical Oncology and started collaborative projects with Dr. Eric Padron utilizing quantitative and mathematical modeling to study single-cell heterogeneity and eco-evolutionary dynamics in chronic myelomonocytic leukemia. In January 2021, Meghan started as an Assistant Professor in the J Crayton Pruitt Family Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Florida and started her own research group the BEAT (Battling Evolution through Adaptive Therapy) Cancer Lab. Outside of her research, Meghan is an avid Florida Gators football fan and enjoys spending time playing with her poodles, crafting, and curling.
